The iO journey: from one taxi service to an ecosystem
How a company from Khujand grew from a taxi franchise into an ecosystem of its own digital products.
Innovatsiyai Oyandasoz started operating in 2017 in Khujand. Its first service was taxi ordering under the Maxim franchise — in a market that already had four major players. The company quickly found its place.
First in-house solutions
In 2018 iO introduced the “Courier” and “We buy & deliver” tariffs, which took the service beyond ordinary rides and noticeably increased the number of orders.
In 2019 came Arzon — affordable taxi for everyone. The same year the company took second place by market volume in the Sughd region.
Leadership and own technology
By 2021 iO had become the taxi market leader. That year also saw the launch of iO Lab — the team that builds the company’s apps in-house — and the educational iO Academy.
In 2023 the team completed the Google for Startups accelerator at Astana Hub, and from September started building its own fleet and a vehicle base for drivers’ technical service.
The ecosystem today
Hamroh, an intercity travel service, launched in 2024, and Mahal, a mapping service, in 2025. Today the iO ecosystem includes five in-house products — 0110, Arzon, Hamroh, Mahal and Traffic — plus a contact center, a vehicle base and iO Academy.
